The position is tenure-track and is at the level of Assistant Professor. Presently, the Program in Sociology comprises four tenured positions; this new tenured position brings the number to five. Responsibilities
Teaching and advising in the BA Sociology Program and participation in Department and WSU activities. Qualifications
The position requires a PhD in Sociology only, or active ABD in Sociology. If ABD, PhD must be completed within two years of hire or contract will be terminated. Credit may be assigned for previous university-level teaching. We are also interested in relevant, non-academic, full-time professional experience of 1-3 years. The applicant should have the ability to incorporate various forms of technology into the classroom.

The Department of International Health (DIH) at the Boston University School of Public Health (BUSPH) has an opening for a new faculty member at the Assistant or Associate Professor level; with interest and international experience in social science research in developing country settings.

Background:
The DIH, which was established in 1995, currently has 180 concentrators enrolled in the Master of Public Health Program and a small but growing DrPH program. The DIH also offers short-course and certificate education programs through its Summer Institute for International Development (SIIH).
Members of the DIH faculty are drawn from public health, clinical, and social/behavioral sciences to provide a multidisciplinary faculty that can address the complex issues of health and development and meet the needs of a diverse student body.

Responsibilities:
The successful candidate will contribute to a wide range of DIH activities, including teaching, advising, research, consulting, and service in international health. The candidate will be expected to develop curriculum and teach effectively at the Master’s and/or Doctoral level, and may also engage in teaching in external education activities (short courses, certificates, etc.) as well. Initial DIH teaching responsibilities include the development and instruction of a core course on social science research methods for public health, advising MPH and/or DrPH students, and participating in Department service activities. The successful candidate will also be expected to be engaged in the research activities of the associated Center for International Health and Development (CIHD). He/she will be encouraged to both work within the existing research programs as well as develop new initiatives. It is anticipated that the successful candidate will develop a substantial externally funded research program during the initial three year appointment.

Central Washington University's Department of Political Science and Center for Latino and Latin American Studies seek candidates for a tenure-track assistant professor position in Latino Studies and U.S. Politics to begin fall 2007. Because no who actually knows has answered the question above, I'll give it my best shot. Although they might ask for a two-year commitment, I can't imagine they could begrudge you leaving (nor make it hard for you to leave) if you get a permanent position during the first year.

We seek to fill two one year, full time (9 month) positions beginning August 2007. The first position will be filled by a candidate with an expertise in sociological theory. The second position will be filled by a generalist, but preferably a criminologist. Both successful candidates must be able to teach two of the following undergraduate courses: Introduction to Sociology, Sociology of the Family, Social Problems, Sociological Theory, Criminology, Introduction to the Criminal Justice System, Juvenile Delinquency, Sociology of Deviance, or other related courses in their area of specialization.
